The 23rd International Congress on Modelling and Simulation (MODSIM2019) was held at the National Convention Centre in Canberra from the 1st to 6th December 2019, attended by three of the Climate Futures team. Tom Remenyi kicked off the Climate Futures contribution on the Monday with a well received oral presentation titled ‘Transforming climate research into useful information: A future climate atlas for the Australian wine industry’ in the ‘Agricultural Systems’ session.
It was then over to Pete Love who presented ‘Modelling the fire ecology of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area’ in the well attended ‘Modelling bushfire dynamics’ session. Nick Earl was an invited speaker and presented on the Thursday in the ‘Projections of regional climate change: from modelling to applications’ session, with a talk on ‘Compound rainfall events in Tasmania’. This was a great opportunity for the Climate Futures team to showcase our novel research and applications, strengthen ties with the scientific community and forge future collaborations.
