Climate Futures researchers take part in climate and bushfires roundtable

Climate Futures researchers Dr Bec Harris and Dr Tom Remenyi took part as panellists in the Cities Power Partnership’s Climate and Bushfires Tasmanian Roundtable, coordinated by the Climate Council in partnership with the Huon Valley Council. The virtual roundtable brought together more than 40 local and state government representatives, academics and community groups to develop new approaches to address the risks of longer, more intense bushfire seasons driven by climate change.

There was a lot of media interest in the event and in the research of the Climate Futures team in understanding changes to bushfire weather, lightning potential and vegetation communities under future climate conditions.

Bec Harris was interviewed by Tasmania Today, ABC Drive Northern Tasmania and Adelaide Radio, and was featured in The Mercury and The Examiner.

Tom and Bec were also interviewed by the Climate Council here.
